Who is Your Mentor? 3 Rules for Happiness

I used to believe that I didn’t need mentors. I thought it was a sign of a weakness to have someone in my field to tell me what to do. But although my ego was telling me this, I knew it was wrong.

In fact, I had mentors, without realizing they were my mentors.

I learned from them, I read their books and I wanted to meet them in person, if I had a chance.

Have you heard a saying: ‘Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are’.

How about: ‘Tell me who your mentors are and I will tell you who you will become’.

There is one exercise in my upcoming book on nourishing yourself spiritually, where I provide a list of spiritual and thought-leaders who I admire.

Without sharing the full list, I would like to introduce you to one of my dear mentors called Wayne Dyer, in this short video (it has subtitles so if you don’t have headphones, you can just read them)

Also, I would like to share the following 15 quotes from Wayne, that have been motivational for me:

  1. “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
  2. “When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.”
  3. “When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.”
  4. “How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.”
  5. “Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.
  6. “Go for it now. The future is promised to no one.”
  7. “The ego is only an illusion, but a very influential one. Letting the ego-illusion become your identity can prevent you from knowing your true self. Ego, the false idea of believing that you are what you have or what you do, is a backwards way of assessing and living life.”
  8. “People who want the most approval get the least and people who need approval the least get the most.”
  9. “Conflict cannot survive without your participation.”
  10. “There’s nothing wrong with anger provided you use it constructively.
  11. “Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.
  12. “Only the insecure strive for security.”
  13. “Your children will see what you’re all about by what you live rather than what you say.
  14. “You cannot be lonely if you like the person you’re alone with.”
  15. “Dream and you shall become.”

Now, I would love to hear from you. Who is your mentor?

Best regards

Darya
