Welcome to my ‘News to ENRICH’ blog #2: Tips to be the best version of yourself and ENRICH your relationships.
In the last blog we talked about the mindful breathing and I shared with you a podcast meditation to practice. How was it for you? Please let me know as your feedback is gold and by writing back to me you will become even more mindful of your breathing!
Today we continue looking into this aspect of our physical need and talk about the quality of airwe breathe.
Generally when we think of air we think of oxygen in it and believe that this is what we need the most to have a healthy breathing. The air we breathe is much more than oxygen! Oxygen only makes up about 21% of air. About 78% of the air we breathe is made up of another gas called nitrogen. There are also tiny amounts of other gases like argon, carbon dioxide and methane. And of course it is important to breath fresh air rather than air-conditioned! Go for a fresh-air walk, stroll in a park, spend some time in a garden and the best is a forest as these are natural air filters!
The quality of air is very important, and hence intuitively people prefer to have nature around them and be closer to places and countries with high quality air to live in. Do you now also wonder which countries have the cleanest air in the world? Here is the list based on the World Health Organisation report. The main factors affecting the rating is low population density and strict regulations on air pollution, as well as abundance of forests.
- Iceland
- Canada
- Finland
- Brunei Darussalam
- Estonia
- Denmark
- New Zealand
- Sweden
- Ireland
- Luxembourg
If you don’t live in these countries, don’t worry, there are other ways you can enhance your breathing following advice from the following two concepts (soon to come in the newsletters!). And simply, run or walk in nature!
Bye for now and stay ENRICHed!
Love,
Darya
