Things We Eat To ENRICH

Today we are into food. Not just food but foods that ENRICH!

I believe in a common saying: ‘you are what you eat’. Every one of us satisfies our fundamental human need for survival through food. The food we choose, though, makes a difference. It either enriches us or depletes us. Let’s talk about which foods enrich us.

I am a big believer in an alkaline-balanced diet. If you just look into what food you consume throughout the day without adding stress, alcohol or smoking, it is still majorly acidic. What we need is to balance it to have a healthy pH around 7-8.  That creates a healthy flora to build a strong immune system to fight bacteria and viruses. Pretty much any disease needs an acidic flora to spread in the body and we want to create alkaline-environment to keep our body safe and ENRICHed!

So what are the top 10 foods that help us ENRICH our body?

  1. Lemons! (pH level of 9) These are the best alkaline products you can have in the house! Fresh and seemingly sour, they are leading alkaline agents to help you enrich your pH balance. They are natural antiseptics, liver-cleansers and energizers for the body!
  2. Watermelon (pH level 9). My favourite of all the foods! Watermelons are very alkaline, it’s a great source of beta-carotene, lycopene and vitamin C.
  3. Agar Agar (pH level 8.5) Agar Agar is a gelatin substitute made from seaweeds that is high in iron and calcium. Was once discovered in the late 1650s by Mino Tarōzaemon in Japan, where it is called kanten. Not the most common food but if you get hold of it, it’s a treat. Substitutes for meat and milk!
  4. Parsley (pH level 8.5). Parsley is a great detoxifier of your intestines and you can eat it every day.
  5. Watercress (pH level 8.5). It’s the natural superfood! It contains a lot of iron and calcium.
  6. Asparagus (pH level 8.5). Asparagus is special for its highest content of asparagines, an amino acid important to the nervous system.
  7. Grapes and raisins (pH level 8.5). These lovely fruits are blood-regulating, they lower blood pressure and reduce risks of getting heart disease.
  8. Apricots (pH level 8). Rich in enzymes, they keep the hormonal balance of our body.
  9. Avocados (pH level 8). Rich in antioxidants, avocados are yummy and so healthy for everyone.
  10. Garlic (pH level 8). What would we do without garlic! It’s a natural antibiotic, it regulates blood pressure, it also keeps us away from people (don’t worry, you can use a mouthwash and tongue cleaner to get rid of the smell). The most valuable property of garlic though is anti-parasitic, that means no parasites in your guts!

In the next post, I will share with you some recipes based on the above super foods that will ENRICH your cooking skills and ENRICH your health!

Stay tuned!

With love,

Darya
